The Office of Communications and Development, located in the Academic Center on the Riverpoint Campus, manages public affairs, community relations, publications, events, marketing and advertising, and fundraising for WSU Spokane.

Barb Chamberlain is the director of communications and public affairs leading a fully integrated communications office, including government and community relations, media relations, publications, Web, social media, marketing, internal communications, and special events. Barb has been with WSU Spokane since 1998 and is actively involved in numerous community boards and committees, on many of which she has served as chair. Barb was named a senior fellow of the Society for New Communications Research in 2008 and has received numerous honors and awards, including the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award for Community Service in October 2010.

Prior to joining WSU Spokane, Chamberlain served in the Idaho legislature for four years (1990-1994), worked in publishing, and owned a small business. 

Barb holds bachelor's degrees in English and linguistics from Washington State University, received with honors, and a Master's in Public Administration from Eastern Washington University.

Brady Crook, the director of campus and regional development, has fifteen years of fundraising experience at WSU, University of Nevada, and University of Oregon. Most recently, Crook was the executive director of the Spokane Hoopfest Association. His combined knowledge of both higher education and community fundraising provides WSU Spokane with a tremendous asset.

Crook holds a bachelor's in sports management from WSU and is active in various community organizations and youth sports. While working toward his degree, he lettered in baseball and was named to the Pac-10 First Team All-Academic team his senior year.

Cori Medeiros started with WSU College of Nursing January 2006 and joined WSU Spokane June 2008. She holds a double bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Science with an emphasis on Earth Science and a Visual Communications Degree from Eastern Washington University.

She has served four years active duty in the U.S. Air Force as a dental technician and served six years in the Air National Guard in Services.

Becki Meehan joined WSU Spokane in February 2006. She comes to the university from WSU Pullman, where she worked as campus visitation coordinator and interim assistant director for New Student Programs.

Meehan is a graduate of the University of Montana, where she received a BS in Business Administration–Marketing and a BA in Communication–Organizational Communication.

Doug Nadvornick joined WSU in 2010 after a long career in radio, most of it as a reporter and host. He worked in public radio for 20 years as news director for Spokane Public Radio and, later, as a regional correspondent in north Idaho for 12 public radio stations. He has also worked as a writer and editor for the Pacific Northwest Inlander and worked a three-month fellowship at National Public Radio.

Doug graduated from WSU in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in communications.

Judith Van Dongen joined WSU Spokane in October 2005. She previously worked for Widener University in Pennsylvania, where she served as editor of two alumni magazines, wrote marketing and advertising copy, and managed web content.

She holds a double bachelor's degree in marketing and European business from the International School of Economics Rotterdam (Netherlands) and the University of Portsmouth (UK). She has taken additional coursework in Italian and Spanish.
