Brian L. Pitcher, PhD
Vice Chancellor
Dr. Brian Pitcher is vice chancellor for the Washington State University Spokane campus. He served WSU Spokane as chancellor from 2005 to 2013.
Prior to joining WSU, Dr. Pitcher was University of Idaho's provost for seven years and served as acting president of UI in Spring 2003. From 1978 to 1996, he served Utah State University as a faculty member and administrator, including five years as dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
His principal area of scholarship and professional publication is demographic, social, and organizational change. He holds bachelor and master's degrees from Brigham Young University, as well as a PhD in sociology from the University of Arizona.
In Spokane, Brian Pitcher serves Greater Spokane Incorporated as a trustee and as a member of its Health Industry Development Group. He is a board member for the Downtown Spokane Partnership and serves on the Spokane Symphony Finance Committee. He is also a member on the Executive Board of the Inland Northwest Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
