Research Statement

Professor Theodorson's research is focused on intersections of environmental technology and design: the luminous environment, human experiences and sustainability

  • Post oocupancy evaluations of daylit interiors
  • Visual and analytical studies of luminous environments
  • Daylight precision methods
  • Light and color

Teaching Areas

Theodorson's teaching is focused on elevating design skills and thinking through creative exploration and collaborative engagement. Courses taught include:

  • ID 426 Interior Design Studio VII: senior capstone studio grounded in multidisciplinary approaches to problems that explore sustainable futures; design competitions
  • ID 321 Interior Design Studio IV: junior studio grounded in place theories; integration of light and design
  • ID 325 Interior Building Systyems: luminous environment, thermal environment and associated systems
  • Elective courses on Light and the Built Environment
