The Riverpoint Campus, located near both downtown Spokane and the Spokane River, is home to Eastern Washington University, Innovate Washington, and Washington State University Spokane.
Martin Luther King Jr. Way construction update as of August 31, 2011
- Existing streets (Spokane Falls Blvd., Pine Street) reopened back in June.
- The completion date for the new Martin Luther King Jr. Way has been delayed by several months due the amount of rock encountered along the new street. The installation of curbs, sidewalks, asphalt, and landscaping on Sherman Avenue—the new stretch of road that runs along the west side the South Campus Facility—should be complete within the next few weeks. Work on MLK Jr. Way is expected to be complete in November.
- Spokane Falls Blvd. has been reduced to one lane each way.
Safety reminders:
- Avoid all construction zones. Even if you don’t see fencing or signage you should not walk in construction areas or on torn-up streets, sidewalks, or paths.
- Pedestrians who park on the south side of campus and cross Spokane Falls Blvd. are asked to use the crosswalks either at Schade Tower or at the Vet Clinic—not the one between the two at Sherman.

If you’ve ever thought about trying Commute Trip Reduction* now is the perfect time to try busing, biking, or walking—because driving to the Riverpoint Campus is more complicated during construction. Please note: STA #29 bus will continue to run on its usual Riverpoint Campus schedule and stops during street construction.
