Riverpoint campus energy conservation
Along with everyone else, our campus continues to be impacted by increased energy costs. Facilities Operations continually explores and implements conservation measures to help reduce energy use and costs.
Besides our efforts to minimize energy consumption, we ask the campus community for their ongoing support and assistance as it pertains to heating and cooling building spaces. Our goal is to maintain a comfortable working environment while meeting the goals of conservation.
If the temperatures in your office and/or classroom are not adequate, please call Facilities Operations at 358-7994 or email spok.fac.maint@wsu.edu as adjustments can be made within the heating and cooling systems. However, if we are unable to adjust a specific office/area to within proper parameters, a departmental purchase of an energy approved heating device may be authorized. Websites/links are available upon request.
We can all help to save energy by turning off lights and office equipment not being used. IT is also involved in energy conservation and has instituted energy saving processes.
Another element of energy conservation is to minimize heating/cooling of campus buildings during weekends, holidays and other off hours. Therefore, every effort is made to schedule/consolidate events in buildings such as the Academic Center as it is heated and cooled during weekends and evenings because it houses the library.
For large and/or ongoing events to be held during off hours, special permission will need to be obtained from the requester’s department head and Facilities Operations Director.
