The Spokane campus grounds crew has two licensed pesticide applicators. They are required to obtain and maintain a Washington State Pesticide Operator’s License. To become licensed a person must pass several tests to prove knowledge, and then attend annual educational courses to maintain the license. The crews utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) which means that pesticides and fertilizers are only applied when necessary and at the correct label rate. This helps to ensure that pesticides and fertilizers are not washed into storm sewers during landscape irrigation.
