VIDEOCONFERENCING

Videoconferencing is a service that connects two or more locations via a real-time two-way audio and visual link. This service can be employed to connect classrooms or conference rooms to remote locations and can function in both traditional lecture format or in a multi-speaker conference format.

Benefits

Videoconferencing is an essential service for a campus engaged in distance learning and is a core function of Riverpoint ITS. Our videoconferencing technologies are state-of-the-art and allow our classrooms and conference rooms to synchronously connect to others on our network – effectively creating a shared learning experience between students, faculty, and staff, regardless of their physical location.

Features

  •  Our distance learning classrooms feature state-of-the-art audio and video technology that allows our Classroom Support technicians to monitor in-progress conferences.
  •  If your distance learning classroom or videoconference is experiencing technical difficulties, our technicians can quickly remedy them by phone, remotely, or in-person. If a technician is dispatched to your location, expect arrival within 10 minutes.
  •  Need to schedule a videoconference? Submit the online Meeting Request Form to both reserve the meeting room and schedule the videoconference event itself.

To learn more about videoconferencing, contact the Technical Support Center, located on the third floor of the Academic Center (SAC Room 311). Technicians are available Monday-Thursday 7:30am-8pm, Friday 7:30am-5pm, and Saturday 8am-5pm, excluding University holidays. Contact by phone at (509) 358-7748 or by email at spok.it.help@wsu.edu.

Rates

There are no costs associated with academic videoconference support; however, there may be costs for non-academic or administrative conferences. Please see our ITS Service Rates for more information.
