Transfer Student Admission Steps
1. Apply online or print a WSU application (return by mail). If you apply electronically, you must pay the $50 application fee with a credit card. If you apply via mail, remember to complete and sign the application, as well as attach the $50 fee. Make checks or money orders payable to WSU. Return the application to:
WSU Spokane Office of Admissions
310 N. Riverpoint Blvd.
PO Box 1495
Spokane, WA 92210-1495
Use the former student application (PDF) if you have previously attended any WSU campus. There is no fee, but you will need to submit official transcripts from each college or university you have attended since last attending WSU.
Complete a non-degree application (PDF) if you are not interested in pursuing a degree, enrolling for personal enrichment, transferring credits directly to another institution, completing graduate prerequisites, or applying for any other reason unrelated to obtaining a degree. There is no fee and no transcripts are required.
2. Request that official transcripts from all colleges you have attended be sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
3. Make sure you meet WSU's requirements for transfer admission. Students with a cumulative college grade point average of 2.50 or higher in at least 27 semester (40 quarter) hours of transferable credit are eligible for admission.
4. Students who have earned the approved transfer associate degree from a Washington State community college or the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) from an Oregon community college will generally be granted junior standing at the WSU, with all lower-division general education requirements (GER) met.
We encourage students to work with the appropriate WSU Spokane department to plan a transfer program that incorporates the prerequisites for certification to the department. Washington State community college students should also become familiar with WSU's transfer guide for their college.
The AAOT and certain approved associate's degrees from Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Idaho guarantee completion of the lower-division GER, but do not guarantee junior standing or 60 semester credits. Students who hold a degree from a community college from another state or a degree other than the approved transfer degree will be granted credit on a course-by-course basis.
Transfer students must fulfill all departmental and college requirements for the degree they intend to earn in addition to the general education requirements published in the catalog under which they will graduate.
5. Have a copy of your final transcript sent to WSU's Office of Admissions. We require that transfer applicants with fewer than 27 semester (40 quarter) hours submit high school transcripts and test score results from the SAT, ACT, or WPCT (if taken before 1989) for consideration.
