George Novan and Matt Layton (above)
George Novan is the associate director of the WSU Spokane (WWAMI) medical education program. Matt Layton is an associate professor and researcher. Both have been honored by their students for their teaching abilities.
In addition, Novan arranges clerkship opportunities in Spokane for third-year students. Layton, a psychiatrist, is involved in research related to addictions and human behavior.
Ruth Bindler
Ruth Bindler is the director of the WSU College of Nursing PhD program. Her own research focuses on making a difference in the health of our children. The quality of her scholarship earned Bindler the distinction of becoming WSU's first Cougar Gold Scholar.
With Kenn Daratha, also of the WSU College of Nursing, Bindler is currently co-investigator of a $1.33 million USDA-funded study on cardiovascular and type 2 diabetes risk factors in children.
Bryan Vila
Bryan Vila is a nationally recognized expert on crime control and human performance issues and a former law enforcement officer.
Before coming to WSU Spokane, Vila directed the Crime Control and Prevention Research Division of the National Institute of Justice—the research arm of the U.S. Department of Justice.
