Fresh Plate Cafe, Academic Center

The Fresh Plate Café opened Jan. 5, 2015, in a newly remodeled and enlarged café and coffee bar on the main floor of the Academic Center. The dining room is open and filled with natural daylight from large, north-facing windows. A separate coffee bar and smaller seating area is opposite the dining room for grabbing a quick espresso coffee and snack.

The Fresh Plate specializes in healthy foods made-from-scratch using quality ingredients and supporting other local businesses. The main dishes and specialty salads are made earlier in the day at Fresh Plate’s commercial kitchen on Nevada Street. Those often include wild Alaska salmon, parmesan-crusted chicken breasts, curry chicken salad, roasted brussel sprouts and more.

Flatbreads, panninis, sandwiches and wraps are made-to-order off the menu. A grab-and-go deli case offers packaged salads, sandwiches, desserts, drinks and more. Fresh cookies – chocolate chip, macadamia nut, peanut butter and others – are baked all day long.

Breakfast items include made-to-order bagels and wraps, fresh baked goods, fresh fruit, cheese, organic nutrition bars and more.

The Fresh Plate Café is owned by Barb Pagarigan, who also owns The Bistro Box food truck and The Fresh Plate Market at 3818 N. Nevada St.

The Fresh Plate serves Roast House Coffee, uses milk from Spokane’s Family Farm, and buys from Bouzies Bakery and Boots Bakery.
