Chancellor’s Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award

The Office of the Chancellor and Vice President for Health Sciences presents this award to honor a faculty member who exemplifies leadership and innovation in enhancing diversity and inclusion in the health sciences through education, practices and/or research that will impact issues of health inequity.

Eligibility

WSU Health Sciences faculty members with appointments in any of the tracks.

Criteria

The Chancellor’s Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates leadership and innovation in addressing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) at WSU, in Washington, or within the healthcare system. Activities recognized by this award may reflect a singular accomplishment or an outstanding record of excellence over a period of years, demonstrated through one or more of the following:

  • Leadership in recruitment and retention of diverse students, faculty, and staff
  • Development of innovative events, resources or programs on DEIB that are offered to a broad audience
  • Publication in scientific outlets of original scholarship on DEIB, particularly regarding health equity
  • Extended service at the community, state, national, or healthcare system level to address issues of DEIB

Application and Review Process

Nominators are asked to submit a narrative describing the candidate’s accomplishments as per above and the candidate’s CV. The narrative should be comprehensible by a health sciences faculty member who is not an expert on DEIB issues. It should be a maximum of one page/500 words. Nominations will be reviewed by a committee of WSU Spokane faculty.
