Washington State University

Students who apply for and receive college credit for Biol 113 and Biol 113L from Stevenson University can submit their SU college transcript to Washington State University and receive credit for Biol 107, Introductory Biology: Cell Biology and Genetics (P/F 4 credits).

Students who complete all four courses in the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences program can apply to receive credit for Stevenson University’s BIO 113 General Biology I: Cell Biology and Genetics lecture and laboratory courses. For those students who meet the requirements, four (4) credits are awarded for BIO 113 and BIO 113L from Stevenson University.

In order to earn 4 credits for BIO 113 General Biology I and BIO 113L General Biology I Laboratory, students must:

  • Complete all four (4) courses in the PLTW Biomedical Sciences program. These include Principles of the Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, and Biomedical Innovation.
  • Earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all PLTW Biomedical Sciences courses, with no more than one grade of “C” in a PLTW course.
  • Earn a score of 7 or higher on the end of course exams for the Principles of the Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems and Medical Interventions courses.
  • When you are starting the PLTW Biomedical Innovation course, complete the Intent to Apply Form. After you complete all of your PLTW courses, including Biomedical Innovation, print and complete the “Special Student Application – Project Lead the Way”.
  • Mail the completed Special Student Application, your high school transcript showing the PLTW courses, and a $175 fee to the following address:

The application, transcript, and fee must be postmarked no later than August 1st of the year in which you complete the PLTW courses. Upon receipt of all necessary forms and verification of all eligibility criteria, students will be registered for BIO 113 and BIO 113L, and given a grade of “P” for passing. This grade is equivalent to a C or better. Students may request an official Stevenson University transcript by submitting a Transcript Request Form to the Stevenson University Registrar’s Office.

PLEASE NOTE: Stevenson University cannot guarantee whether or how any other institution will accept the credits that are offered for PLTW courses. Students planning to transfer their Stevenson University credits to another institution are advised to first check with their intended institution to confirm that the credits will be accepted.  Student Articulation Procedure:

The student seeking credit must:

  • Complete at least 10 credits of coursework at SMU with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Be enrolled at SMU at the time of credit request.
  • Submit a “Request for Course Credits: Project Lead The Way” form to the SMU registrar.
  • Provide an official, sealed transcript documenting completion of PLTW course with a grade of B (3.0) or better in all courses.
  • Pay the $30 per credit transcription fee ($120 for a 4 credit course).

Course Completion Certificate:

Qualified PLTW Biomedical students will receive a letter certifying they have completed the coursework. They will receive special college credit at IUPUI.

Fee: Course enrollment fee is $25 per credit.

Requirements:

  • Student must have taken the PLTW Biomedical Science course (s) at a certified PLTW school and passed the End of Course (EOC) National Assessment Part A with a stanine score of 6 or higher.
  • Complete and submit application form.
  • Letters certifying course completion will be sent upon graduation. While information may be submitted to IUPUI each year, only one letter certifying all courses completed will be mailed upon graduation.
  • A sealed letter will also be included so students who attend a university/college outside of IUPUI or an IU affiliated school can present it to the enrollment office who will decide whether or not to issue the college credit at that institution.
  • Qualified PLTW Biomedical students who matriculate to IUPUI will have special credit posted on their IU transcript at no further cost.

Missouri University of Science and Technology

Students may receive undergraduate credit from the Missouri University of Science and Technology for successfully completing any of the PLTW Biomedical Sciences courses. Students must have taken the course from a PLTW school and received an A or B in the class. In addition, they must score a 6 or better on the national EOC exam. Credit will be awarded for the first year biology electives in the S&T curriculum listed below. Each course is 3 credits. Courses listed for credit on transcript will be by PLTW course titles. S&T course titles listed below are equivalent course references. The fee is $250/course.
