Breanne RagleWhat is your major?
Speech and Hearing Sciences Undergraduate Program

Where are you from?
Tri-Cities

What is your tribal affiliation?
I am a member of the Cherokee Nation.

Tell us about your academic/career goals or why you chose your career path?
I chose this career path because I wanted to help others, specifically children. Going into college I hadn’t declared a major. I probably changed it a handful of times before I finally realized what I wanted. What I wanted to do was to make a difference in people’s lives.

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
Fresh Plate. The food is delicious!

What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don’t be afraid to reach out to people. Especially in different programs. We all can gain something from each other.

What three traits define you?
I am determined, caring, and big-hearted.

How do you define success?
Success to me means that you achieved anything you put as a goal. It can be little, or it can be big. As long as you worked at it and you reached that goal…it was a success.

What are you doing right now to help propel you toward continued academic or career success?
With my career I want to work with children, so I am constantly working with kids. Over the summer I ended up working three jobs. All of which had me working with children but with different ages. I did this to push myself a little bit. I was around babies all the way through high schoolers. I not only enjoy being around kids, but I also believe I can learn from them.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?
“My Journey of Not Knowing”

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I am on social media way too often. So, if I had 30 minutes of free time, odds are I would be on my phone.

What does it mean to you to be a WSU Cougar?
For me, being a Coug means having a community. I have always felt like WSU Cougars are a family and at the end of the day we will always be there for each other.

What or who has made the most meaningful impacts/differences in helping you succeed?
My mom graduated with a Speech and Hearing Sciences degree from WSU. So, it has been nice to have her be there for support. As well as my father who never fails to show that he always has my back. They have truly been the best support system I could’ve ever asked for.
