Active Shooter Presentation

June 24, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

June 20, 1994 started just like any other day at Fairchild Air Force Base for Senior Airman, Andy Brown, a five-year veteran of the Air Force.  Andy had been at Fairchild AFB for about six months as a security policeman. Soon that day he would find himself as the first responder to an active shooting incident at the Fairchild AFB medical complex where four people died and 23 people were injured. As part of Brown’s healing process, he shares his story with others. He outlines the timeline of the shooting, the chaos that is created and how in just a few minutes the event was over. Brown’s presentation will cover the following items:

  •  Brief background on the gunman
  • Details of the incident
  • Physiological and psychological effects of stress and trauma
  • Steps to increase your chances of survival.

The purpose of this presentation is not to scare you but to empower you to be responsible for your own safety, to create your own personal safety plan for any event you may encounter, and for you to realize how quickly these events begin and end.

Brown warns the material is fairly intense.
