APAC session – Interactive Mindfulness and Mental Awareness

January 9, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Julia Hayes, owner of Souls Center in Spokane, will set the tone in the new year with a 15 minute mindfulness practice. Following this relaxing exercise, Dr. Matt Layton, psychiatrist and clinical professor with the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, will engage in understanding challenges in ourselves and others in a stressful environment.

This workshop will include breakout sessions (in person and on Zoom) to discuss, how to identify whether what you are experiencing in your work, relationships and parenting is normal or dysfunctional. For example, when does stress turn into an anxiety disorder for which someone might need professional help? This will be a group exercise, to learn from one another about the tools and coping skills that have been successful for others.

All AP, civil service, faculty and students are encouraged to participate.
