Biomedical Seminar Series
August 2, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
SEMINAR: “The Stability of Neuronal Networks Depends on Sleep and Wake” by Keith Hengen, Ph.D., a post-doctoral fellow with the Turrigiano Lab at Brandeis University who will be moving to Washington University in St. Louis as an Assistant Professor in the fall of 2017.
Hengen’s research focuses on in-vivo neuronal homeostasis and the impact of sleep and wake on plasticity mechanisms. He uses network self-organization and computational approaches to large datasets. His most recent paper “Neuronal Firing Rate Homeostasis is Inhibited by Sleep and Promoted by Wake” was published in Cell in March 2016 and will be the basis of his talk.
INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS: If you are interested in a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Hengen, sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f044ba4ad2caafe3-11meetings.
LUNCH or DINNER with speaker: There is also on the signup sheet an opportunity for 3 post-docs/researchers to sign up for lunch following the seminar and for 2 members faculty to sign up for dinner with him the evening of Aug 2. First come-first serve for these opportunities.
