April 27, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The College of Medicine is excited to welcome Dr. Ofer Amram, MSc, Ph.D., on April 27 at 10:00 a.m. in SAC 249, for a presentation titled, Spatial Analysis and Visualization of Individual-level Data for Evidence-base Decision Making in Health Research.

This talk will provide an overview of Dr. Amram’s research, describing the use of individual level data to examine both the relationship between social factors and health outcomes, and the impact of access to care on health outcomes.

Dr. Amram, MSc, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow at the BC Centre for Excellence for HIV/AIDS, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He recently completed a joint PhD between Simon Fraser University in Canada (Geography Department) and Ben Gurion University in Israel (Faculty of Health Sciences) with a focus on spatial epidemiology. Dr. Amram’s research uses geographical information systems to determine how individual, contextual and environmental factors impact disease rates and clinical outcomes and how access to health services affects health outcomes and utilization of services. His work has been published in a number of injury and HIV-related journals.
