Employee Benefits – Life Insurance Discussion

November 17, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

WSU Human Resource Services in Pullman will have information sessions about the one-time open enrollment life Insurance period occurring throughout the month of November.  Sessions will be videoconferenced to Spokane and are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, November 17, 9:00 -10:00 am (SAC 401A)
  • Monday, November 21, 12:30 – 1:30 pm (SAC 401A)

Following the Wednesday presentation, HRS plans to post a taped session that can be accessed via the Life Insurance Open Enrollment website. If you are currently enrolled in any optional life insurance coverage through the Public Employee Benefits Board (PEBB), action is required by Nov. 30, 2016, to:

  • Enter your beneficiary information with the new carrier, Met Life. The beneficiary information will not transfer. (Your employer-paid basic policy and any optional/supplemental life insurance you carry on yourself or your spouse/partner will automatically convert to the MetLife policies.)
  • Manually transfer your accidental death and dismemberment coverage if you have it. It will not automatically transfer.
  • Manually transfer any coverage you have for your children. It also will not automatically transfer and is changing now to ‘Dependent Coverage’.

To make changes to your life insurance and name your beneficiaries, go to  the Met Life MyBenefits portal.   Hard copy forms are also available at HRS or on the HRS Life Insurance Open Enrollment website.

Questions can be directed to the HRS Benefits staff at 509-335-4521 or hrs@wsu.edu
