From Fins to Fur-Hearing Loss and Prevention
October 26, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Dr. Allison Coffin, assistant professor of neuroscience at WSU Vancouver, will be on campus Oct. 26 for a presentation in SNRS 203 from 4:30 p.m. – 5:35 p.m.
Hearing loss, which impacts millions worldwide, often results from damage to sensory hair cells in the inner ear. The Coffin lab at WSU Vancouver studies the cellular mechanisms of hearing loss, with the goal of understanding how hair cells die and how we can prevent this damage, preserving hearing. Allison Coffin’s talk will showcase some recent work on both known and new hearing toxins and highlight recent drug development efforts.
This presentation is sponsored by the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences.
