Healthy People + Healthy Pets

October 6, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Person and dog
The WSU College of Nursing and WSU College of Veterinary Medicine are once again partnering to offer free health care services to homeless and low-income people and their pets.

Healthy People + Healthy Pets will be held on the WSU Spokane campus on Wednesday., Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The clinic will offer COVID-19 and routine vaccinations, immunizations, health screenings and simple treatments to people and pets, all at no cost. It’s staffed by nursing and veterinary medicine students, under the direction of faculty members of the two colleges.

Also on hand are water and snacks for humans, and pet food to take home, along with a pet gift, thanks to support from the MultiCare Community Partnership Fund.

The two colleges have offered Healthy People + Healthy Pet clinics since 2018 but were forced to take a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees at the Oct. 6 clinic will be asked to wear masks and practice social distancing and will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

Pets and people are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of two pets per person/family. There is no income verification requirement.

Healthy People + Healthy Pets will take place in the WSU Center for Clinical Research and Simulation, which many people recognize as the former location of “The Bookie” – a historic structure at 412 E. Spokane Falls Boulevard. There is ample parking on the south side of the building where check-in will take place.
