Human Development Lecture Series-1

February 16, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

OUR Community – OUR Health – OUR Future

A three-part distinguished lecture series in human development. Lecture 1 – “The role of attachment & making real parent-infant connections.” Join Sara Waters, Ph.D., who will discuss stress and the impact of touch on early relationships. “I want people to recognize that stress is normal,” Waters explains. “Who you are was laid down from early experiences and is deeply entrenched, but at the same time we humans are malleable and can re-write those experiences with a little effort.”

In addition to presenting findings of her groundbreaking research in parenting, stress, and attachment, Dr. Waters will present ideas for practices that can help individuals dealing with current or past stressors as well as ways members of the community can come together to address the impact of stress on our community.

The Child and Family Research Unit (CAFRU) and Washington State University Extension’s Department of Human Development (HD) have worked together to develop a three-part lecture series on the nature of human development across the lifespan. The lecture series features dynamic, engaging speakers who discuss emerging issues facing our community, supporting HD’s mission to promote healthy development and inspire positive change in the lives of children, adolescents, and adults.

Seating is limited. Please RSVP in advance for this free eventhttp://ext100.wsu.edu/cafru/our-community-our-health-our-future/
