Live Long and Live Well – An Interdisciplinary Approach to Study Life

April 8, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Presenter: Tammy Bray, Ph.D.

Dr. Bray is a Professor in Global Health and Nutrition, and Dean Emeritus for the School of Biological and Population Health Sciences College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University.

According to data from the United Nations, the population aged 60 or over is growing faster than all younger age groups globally. All regions have experienced substantial increases in life expectancy. As both the proportion of older people and the length of life increase throughout the world, key questions arise. Will aging be accompanied by a longer period of good health, a sustained sense of well-being, and extended periods of social engagement and productivity? This presentation focuses on ways to improve health and well-being and to close the gap between life span and health span, based on scientific evidence using an interdisciplinary approach including agriculture, nutrition, kinesiology, public health, behavioral sciences, medicine and more.
