Mental Illness Presentation

March 23, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Mental illness and the stigma attached to it is the subject of an hour-long presentation on campus Thursday, March 23, by a Spokane man who suffers mental illness yet is an accomplished employee in the field and active volunteer.

Steven Einhaus, a peer specialist at Eastern State Hospital for nine years, and the 2015 volunteer of the year for the Spokane chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness, will give a presentation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in SAC 249 on March 23.

Einhaus advocates for the rights of the mentally ill by sharing his story. He endeavors to break down the stigma and fear associated with mental illness. He hopes to show that recovery is probable and success is possible despite limiting factors.

Einhaus currently serves on the Crisis Intervention Training panel for Spokane county and city police.
