Research First Friday

December 1, 2017 @ 12:10 pm - 1:15 pm

Linda Ward, PhD, and Lynn Jinishian, MN, RN, will present “Measuring Meaningful Learning through Longitudinal Tracking of Genomic Knowledge.”

Preparation of a nursing workforce with genomic competency requires students to acquire deep understanding of foundational genetic-genomic concepts. Approaches to genomic nursing education must be efficient, effective, and evidence based. To support meaningful learning of critical genetic-genomic knowledge, we administered the Genomic Nursing Concept Inventory as a repeated-measures test to measure genomic literacy among BSN students as they progressed through a baccalaureate nursing program. Findings provide evidence of short-term and sustained or meaningful learning and contribute to evaluation of a designated genomics course.

The presentation will be videostreamed and archived. Contact Kathy Bridwell for the link at 509-324-7258 or bridwell@wsu.edu.
