Spokane Nursing Convocation

Convocation is the WSU College of Nursing’s traditional pinning ceremony, where nursing faculty welcome graduates into the profession by bestowing a nursing pin. We also celebrate our graduate students at the Convocation ceremony. It’s different than Commencement, which is the traditional graduation ceremony.

Attire:

Students in the Tri-Cities and Spokane will wear academic regalia – caps and gowns.

Gowns must be pre-ordered online through Herff Jones; they are not available through the Bookie any longer. Your gown will be mailed to you, and must be returned the same way. Go to colleges.herffjones.com/college/washst to order. Last day to order is Oct. 27 without incurring additional charges.

Students in Yakima have opted to go with gowns only, please check with Program Coordinator Mary Gonzalez or Campus Director Lisa Vickers for information on that process.

Masking: Guests at all of the Convocation events will be required to wear face coverings while on premises and throughout the ceremonies. This is a special moment in families’ lives and we don’t want anything to mar it, so please encourage your guests to follow this requirement.

Nursing Pin: This year, our WSU College of Nursing development office purchased custom pins for all pre-licensure BSN students that echo the design of our historic College of Nursing pins. You do not need to purchase this pin.

Convocation will take place in the auditorium at Ferris High School, 3020 E. 37th Ave. There is ample free parking at the location. Each student will be allowed four guests; look for an RSVP form in your email soon. While we are beholden to our venue’s capacity and social distancing requirements, we will try to accommodate students who’d like to bring more than four guests.
