Interfaith Work in Health Care Settings Conf

February 9, 2019 @ 8:00 am5:00 pm

Interfaith Work in Health Care Settings Conference is Feb. 9

The second Interfaith Work in Health Care Settings Conference (co-sponsored by WSU Spokane, EWU, CCS, Whitworth, UW Medical School, and NIC) is seeking individuals interested in presenting at the conference, which is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2019.

Our communities are home to a rich tapestry of different faith traditions including those who have no religious tradition, and everyone will at some point intersect with the health care system. Faith and health care are two very personal and sensitive issues that often require difficult decisions. Within a health care setting, when people do not understand or honor another person’s faith tradition, it is possible for people to not understand the health decisions being made. Undervaluing and misunderstanding another person’s system of values can lead to conflict, distrust, and even the marginalization of people of some faiths from seeking necessary care.

This conference asks students who are preparing for a career in health care to explore issues of faith, deepen their understanding of their individual traditions, and to serve as leaders in health care settings for encouraging interfaith dialogue and understanding.

You can read more about the conference and submit a presentation proposal here.

The submission deadline is Nov. 8.  If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Jim Mohr by email or at 509-358-7526.
