Training – Recognizing substance abuse in patients

The College of Nursing is hosting free training in Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for patients with potential substance abuse. Who is this for? Most health professionals can benefit from SBIRT training including pharmacy, medicine, nursing, social work, nutrition and exercise, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistants, dental hygienists, behavioral specialists and health educators. SBIRT uses Motivational Interviewing skills to teach substance abuse screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment in the clinical setting. No CE credits are offered.
