Wellness Collaborative-Clash of the Generations

February 8, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Wellness Collaborative in partnership with COP presenter Luke Rice, MEd Assistant Director of Experiential Services is offering a campus and community event:  “Clash of the Generations”-Wednesday, February 8th 12-1pm in NRS 205. This will be interactive, but you are welcome to bring your lunch.  Remember, you can ask your supervisor to consider this interactive and professional opportunity to be eligible for training time if learning to communicate and work collaboratively with different generations would be a benefit to the performance of your responsibilities at WSU: http://hrs.wsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Appropriate-Use-of-Training-Time.pdf

We invite all age ranges to amplify learning objectives:

The Traditionalists: Born before 1945 (Approx. 4-7 million in the workplace)

The Baby Boomers: 1946 -1964 (Approx. 45-50 million in the workplace)

Generation X: 1965 -1982 (Approx. 48-53 million in the workplace)

Millennials: 1983 -2001 (Approx. 45-50 million in the workplace)

On the surface, generational differences and diversity in any organization or academic setting such as Washington State University Health Sciences campus is the norm. Faculty, staff and students bring energy and life to our campus as our classrooms and labs are filled with learning, discovery and collaboration. However, below the surface, differences in work habits, communication/learning styles, motivations and life experiences can interject challenging situations and conflicts to the learning and working environments due to the various differences that exist between generations.

You are invited to stay after until 1:30 to be part of the live Twitter Q&A with Luke Rice #GenChat
