Application development is a service that enables WSU Spokane faculty and staff to incorporate information into customized software applications, web pages, or reports. This data can originate from databases, as XML files, or web and email forms.
Faculty, Staff, Departments
While databases form the foundation for efficient data management, making data accessible by integrating it into a useful application can create an efficient and comprehensive system. To create a database-driven application, information can be connected to electronic online forms, such as registration applications, service requests, or dynamic reports and pages.
- Static web pages can be difficult to upkeep and maintain due to constantly changing content. Linking web pages to databases ensures changes made in the database are automatically updated on the web.
- Applications can be developed using multiple programming languages, depending on customer needs and database requirements.
- Applications are developed with the users’ functional and nonfunctional requirements in mind. Best practices are implemented using various SDLC (Software Development Life Cycles) models to see projects from their infancy to their completion.
