COVID-19 Related Updates

Based on Governor Inslee’s original “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order and subsequent extensions and modifications of it, the WSU/EWU Health Sciences campus now has limited access and remote operations. Due to this development, the WSU Spokane Academic Library remains closed, including 24-hour access with student IDs.

These steps help to prioritize the health and safety of our patrons and employees. However, we are committed to helping people and providing resources to support research and learning. We will continue to do our best to serve the campus community remotely.

Remote Assistance: Librarians are available for remote assistance, research consultations, and online instruction sessions.  WSU students, staff, and faculty may contact Jonathan Potter ( and EWU students, staff, and faculty may contact Kelly Evans ( for assistance.

Curbside Pickup and Circulation of Physical Items: At this time, print books and other physical items held in our library, or other EWU or WSU libraries, can be checked out upon request by EWU or WSU students, faculty, staff, and registered community borrowers. Summit items are also available to EWU or WSU students, faculty, and staff.  Call 509-358-7930 or email to schedule curbside pickup (or shipping, if you reside outside of Spokane County, with a limit of 4 items per quarter/semester.)  Visit for access to Search It and other WSU databases; visit for EWU resources.

e-Books:  We have over 200,000 e-books available in many disciplines. Please work with a librarian for help. You can request an appointment at

Interlibrary Loans and Summit: Requests for physical items from other libraries are now being filled for WSU and EWU students, staff, and faculty, with curbside pickup available by appointment and limited shipping of physical materials to locations outside of Spokane County (call 509-358-7930 or email

Journal Articles:  Many journal articles can be accessed online via For items not available in full-text online, you can request copies in ILLiad. For in-house materials, we will scan and email them. For items not held locally, we will process Interlibrary Loan requests.

Reserves: Most items are already on electronic reserve and will remain available 24/7. If you have additional requirements, please contact Sage Workman at .

Instruction: Librarians can meet with your class using Zoom. They can create online activities for your students and share the results with you. They can consult with students individually, or in groups, using Zoom, via email, or over the phone.
