Spokane Academic Library Services and Resources
As of March 25, 2020
Based on Governor Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, the WSU/EWU Health Sciences campus now has limited access and remote operations. Due to this development, the WSU Spokane Academic Library is now closed, including 24-hour access with student IDs.
These steps help to prioritize the health and safety of our patrons and employees. However, we are committed to helping people and providing resources to support research and learning. We will continue to do our best to serve the campus community remotely.
Below are a few of the resources available. For the most up-to-date information on library services, visit the relevant link:
- WSU Students: spokane.wsu.edu/library/covid-19-updates
- EWU Students: www.ewu.edu/library/how-to-access-library-resources-during-a-closure/
Remote Assistance: Librarians are available for remote assistance, research consultations, and online instruction sessions. WSU students, staff, and faculty may contact Jonathan Potter (email@example.com) and EWU students, staff, and faculty may contact Kelly Evans (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Books: At this time, print books held in our library can be checked out and mailed to WSU students, faculty, and staff via request. (Sorry, this service is not currently available for EWU.) Return postage will be provided. Visit spokane.wsu.edu/library/ for access to Search It and other databases. This service will be provided so long as mail services remains open. Please include your address in the notes field to ensure correct delivery.
We have over 200,000 e-books available in many disciplines. Please work with a librarian for help. You can request an appointment at spokane.wsu.edu/library/book-a-librarian/
For WSU students, specific to books and materials you have checked out, with the exception of reserve items, your check outs will be automatically renewed until they are returned. Also, fines are being suspended.
For EWU students, specific to books and materials you have checked out, your check out dates were extended to April 6. Fines are suspended on all newly due books and equipment.
Journal Articles: Many journal articles can be accessed online via spokane.wsu.edu/library/. For items not available in full-text online, you can request copies in ILLIAD. For in-house materials, we will scan and email them. For items not held locally, we will process Interlibrary Loan requests.
UPDATE: Interlibrary Loans and Summit: Requests for physical items are now being filled for WSU students, staff, and faculty, with no-contact pickup available by appointment (call 509-358-7930 or email email@example.com) and free shipping for students residing away from Spokane. Electronic delivery of articles is also available.
Reserves: Most items are already on electronic reserve and will remain available 24/7. If you have additional requirements, please contact Sage Workman at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Instruction: Librarians can meet with your class using Zoom. They can create online activities for your students and share the results with you. They can consult with students individually, or in groups, using Zoom, via email, or over the phone.
Again, we regret having to make this decision. We will do our best to reduce the disruption this will cause. As the situation continues to evolve, access to services and materials may also change. We will keep you informed of these changes.
NEW From WSU Spokane Student Affairs:
