Dr. Rachel Safran is an internal medicine physician and HIV specialist based in Spokane, Washington, serving as the Associate Program Director and Clinic Director for the newly accredited MultiCare Spokane Internal Medicine Residency. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, with a strong commitment to medical education, workforce development, and interdisciplinary training.
Dr. Safran’s clinical and research work focuses on HIV treatment and prevention, with particular emphasis on emerging therapies and innovative care delivery models. She has been an investigator on multiple clinical trials evaluating novel antiretroviral strategies, her work also spans quality improvement and implementation science, including behavioral health integration, population health strategies, and expanding access to HIV prevention in underserved communities.
A recognized educator and leader, Dr. Safran has received multiple teaching and clinical excellence awards and was named Investigator of the Year 2024 by the MultiCare Institute for Research & Innovation. She is an active member of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of HIV Medicine, contributing to regional and national efforts to advance HIV care.
