This event benefits the Community Cancer Fund and the local cancer patient organizations it serves. The organization also partners with the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. DESCRIPTION:WSU College of Nursing is proud to help lead a growing national effort to elevate the visibility and impact of nurses through a partnership with the American Nurses Association and the Nurses Light Up the Sky campaign during National Nurses Week (May 6–12). Across Washington and the nation\, landmarks will shine red in recognition of the profound contributions nurses make every day. \nIn Spokane\, the WSU Health Sciences CCRS Building and Gesa Pavilion will be illuminated\, as will MultiCare Deaconess Hospital\, MultiCare Valley Hospital\, MultiCare Rockwood\, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center\, Providence Holy Family Hospital\, and the Spokane Regional Health District. \nNew partners this year include WSU Pullman\, where the Bryan Hall Clock Tower will be lit\, as well as WSU Vancouver and WSU Tri-Cities. \nThis initiative not only celebrates the profession\, it also amplifies public awareness and inspires meaningful connections between WSU and the communities our university serves. DESCRIPTION:The Community Mental Health Summit in Eastern Washington is a full-day\, in-person event taking place on May 21\, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Washington State University Spokane. Hosted by the APPROACHES Lab in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health Sciences\, this summit will bring together behavioral health providers\, researchers\, students\, community organizations\, and policymakers to explore practical\, community-based approaches to improving mental and behavioral health outcomes across the region. \nThe program will feature three session blocks with symposium-style presentations followed by audience Q&A\, covering topics such as housing and homelessness\, co-occurring substance use\, culturally responsive care\, youth mental health\, crisis response\, and innovative clinical and community-based services. The day will conclude with a panel discussion featuring Senator Marcus Riccelli regional leaders focused on behavioral health challenges and opportunities in Eastern Washington. \nContinuing education (CE) credits will be offered for a range of mental health and medical professionals.
