{"id":220,"date":"2015-01-29T19:24:34","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T03:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/extra\/?p=220"},"modified":"2025-10-08T15:52:22","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:52:22","slug":"senate-medical-school-bill-scheduled-for-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/news\/campus-community\/senate-medical-school-bill-scheduled-for-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate Medical School Bill Scheduled for Hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billinfo\/summary.aspx?bill=5487&amp;year=2015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate Bill 5487<\/a> has been scheduled for a public hearing in the Senate Commitee on Higher Education on Feb. 3 at 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The bill, introduced by Senator Michael Baumgartner (R-Spokane) and a companion to House Bill 1559 (<a href=\"http:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/extra\/2015\/01\/27\/washington-state-house-higher-education-committee-hears-medical-school-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which we wrote about here<\/a>), would allow WSU to operate a medical school, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing can be seen on TVW and online at <a href=\"http:\/\/tvw.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TVW.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve talked about <a href=\"http:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/the-need\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the need<\/a> for a WSU medical school in a number of places.
