Work. Soccer games. Pursuing medical schools.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of things that keep us busy. All of these things may make us tired, and being tired is no fun.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Amy Sparrow (pictured) is a researcher in our <a href=\"http:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/researchoutreach\/Sleep\/\">Sleep and Performance Research Center<\/a> and penned an article that ran in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/health-and-families\/features\/the-science-of-sleep-how-to-tackle-tiredness-10109464.html\" target=\"_blank\">Independent<\/a> (a UK news outlet) and on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-ae\/health\/medical\/the-science-of-sleep-how-to-tackle-tiredness\/ar-AA9ORck#page=1\" target=\"_blank\">MSN.com<\/a>. Sparrow points out a few reasons why people always feel tired.<\/p>\n<p>For example, did you know keeping your room temperature slightly cooler than normal can help you sleep? Or that being hydrated is helpful when trying to sleep?<\/p>\n<p>Sparrow also points out that while alcohol can put us to sleep, it also often wakes us up in the middle of the night, and that&#8217;s not good.<\/p>\n<p>Sparrow also says avoiding bright lights before bedtime is a wise choice. That means put down the tablet or other device. <a href=\"http:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/extra\/2014\/12\/18\/fall-asleep-sooner-by-avoiding-smartphones-and-tablets\/\" target=\"_blank\">KXLY explored that issue with us last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Getting the right amount of sleep is important for good health.
