WSU Spokane has the following research service centers on its campus. The facilities were partially funded by grants from the Health Sciences and Services Authority of Spokane County (HSSA).<\/p>\n\n\n

Flow Cytometry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Flow cytometry is a highly quantitative high throughput technique to accurately detect and quantitate various cell components at the single cell level. The Flow Cytometry Service Center is equipped with the necessary instrumentation for your cell analysis and sorting needs. <\/p>\n\n\n

Genomics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Molecular Biology and Genomics Core, co-directed by Drs. Michael Griswold and Derek Pouchnik, provides DNA sequencing, protein sequencing, oligonucleotide synthesis, peptide synthesis, and some information services to members of the WSU Center for Reproductive Biology. <\/p>\n\n\n

Histology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Histology provides insight the cellular anatomy of tissues and organs. The WSU Spokane Histology Service Center\u2019s mission is to provide high-grade, research quality histology. Mass Spectrometry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Mass spectrometry is considered the gold standard in drug and metabolite analysis, with advantages including the ability to detect drugs\/metabolites at very low concentrations, the ability to distinguish a specific drug\/metabolite from all other compounds in a biologic sample, and high speed leading to a short turnaround time for results. <\/p>\n\n\n

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Nuclear magnetic resonance is a powerful technique for investigating the structure of molecular entities, primarily those in solution, by radio-frequency interrogation of the sample held in a powerful magnetic field. NMR has been used extensively in drug screening and lead identification. <\/p>\n\n\n

Program of Laboratory Animal Resources (PLAR)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

PLAR\u2019s goal is to facilitate compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing animal utilization in teaching, research, and testing. The department staff strives to maintain a quality animal care program that meets the standards required to receive accreditation by the Association for the Assessment of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). <\/p>\n\n\n

The Proteomics\/Metabolomics Service Center is fully equipped to support diverse research needs across Washington State University, other academic institutions, and industry partners. Utilizing state-of-the-art instrumentation, such as the Orbitrap Q Exactive HF mass spectrometer from Thermo Fisher Scientific and advanced nano-LC systems, the system provides high-quality data. With a focus on both standard and specialized services, coupled with robust training and collaborative support, our center enables researchers to push the boundaries of proteomics research. <\/p>\n\n\n
