The Student Health Fee provides you with access to both in-person and virtual mental health services through <a href=\"https:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/studentaffairs\/access-and-wellness\/counseling-services\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"688\">Student Counseling Services<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to note that this fee is not intended as a substitute for a health or medical insurance policy and does not cover care for dependents. Regardless of whether a student has government or private health care insurance, the university requires payment of the fee.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-note  wsu-note--border-autumn\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wsu-note__title\">\n\t\t\t2025-2026 Fee\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\n\n<p>The Student Health Fee is $130 <strong>per semester<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fee Coverage Dates<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-row wsu-row--thirds\" >\r\n    \n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fall Semester<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Fall semester coverage begins on the <strong>Monday two weeks prior to the first day of classes<\/strong> and continues through December 31.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spring Semester<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring semester coverage begins on <strong>January 1<\/strong> and continues through the week following commencement.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summer Session<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Summer session coverage begins the <strong>Monday after commencement<\/strong> and continues one week after the last day of the final summer session.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summer Health Fee<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are enrolled in one or more credits in the summer are automatically charged the Health Fee. However, students returning in the Fall who are not enrolled in Summer can opt in and pay the fee to receive services. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-cta \" >\n\t<a \t\t\t\t\thref=\"https:\/\/futurecoug.wsu.edu\/manage\/login?realm=&#038;r=https:\/\/futurecoug.wsu.edu\/register\/?id=8e806f7b-917e-4340-b913-36b0b2ec264b\"\t\n\t\tclass=\"wsu-button \">\n\t\t\t\n\t\tSummer Health Fee Opt-In\t\t\t<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-heading--style-marked\" id=\"insurance\">Student Health Insurance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While health insurance is not required for most students, WSU highly recommends that all students carry it. Insurance helps you pay for your medical and mental health bills by covering some of the cost of clinic visits and procedures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Insurance Coverage Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If you are under age 26, under the Affordable Care Act, you may stay on the insurance policy of an eligible parent, guardian, or other family member as a dependent until you turn 26. You can find more information on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/healthcare\/about-the-aca\/young-adult-coverage\/index.html\">U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students who do not qualify as a dependent on another person\u2019s insurance and who are not eligible for one of WSU\u2019s plans can also purchase a plan through the\u202f<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wahbexchange.org\/\">Washington Health Benefit Exchange<\/a>. If you meet certain financial criteria, you may be eligible for Apple Health (Washington Medicaid).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are a<strong> professional and graduate health sciences student,<\/strong> you may have access to WSU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/cougarhealth.wsu.edu\/billing-and-insurance\/student-insurance\/health-sciences-student-insurance\/\">Health Sciences Student Insurance plan. <\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are an <strong>international student<\/strong>, you may have access to WSU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/cougarhealth.wsu.edu\/billing-and-insurance\/student-insurance\/international-student-insurance\/\">International Student Insurance<\/a> plan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are a <strong>Graduate Student Assistant,<\/strong> you may have access to WSU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/cougarhealth.wsu.edu\/billing-and-insurance\/student-insurance\/graduate-student-assistant-insurance\/\">Graduate Student Insurance<\/a> plan. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Need Assistance?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cougar Health Services on the WSU Pullman campus has health insurance navigators who can walk you through the nuances of health insurance and help you better understand your plan&#8217;s coverage.
