Recreation

The Spokane region offers recreation opportunities for all interests.

Into the outdoors? Like the arts? Need a nice place to eat? As a student in Spokane, your choices will seem endless.

In the winter, you have five ski resorts all within an easy two-hour drive, including Mt. Spokane, which is just a half hour from downtown Spokane. During the summer months, the region’s many lakes and rivers offer a getaway to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Washington’s two largest state parks are located in Spokane – Mt. Spokane State Park and Riverside State Park – offering outdoor enthusiasts countless amounts of hiking, biking and running trails.

If indoor activities are more your style, a number of music venues feature local musicians throughout the year. The Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club and Spokane Empire arena football team both call the Spokane Arena home, offering family-friendly entertainment. The arena also hosts concerts throughout the year, attracting popular acts like Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw and many more.

The Museum of Arts and Culture celebrates the area’s history and arts scene. Art festivals and events take place in the region throughout the year.

Whatever it is you’re looking for, chances are Spokane has it.
