Into the outdoors? Like the arts? Need a nice place to eat? As a student in Spokane, your choices will seem endless.
In the winter, you have five ski resorts all within an easy two-hour drive, including Mt. Spokane, which is just a half hour from downtown Spokane. During the summer months, the region’s many lakes and rivers offer a getaway to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Washington’s two largest state parks are located in Spokane – Mt. Spokane State Park and Riverside State Park – offering outdoor enthusiasts an abundance of hiking, biking and running trails.
If indoor activities are more your style, a number of smaller music venues feature local musicians throughout the year, and the big names play at the Spokane Arena and other locations. The Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club also plays at the arena, offering family-friendly entertainment. The INB Performing Arts Center hosts a full Best of Broadway season as well as other entertainment. There is also the Museum of Arts and Culture which celebrates the area’s history and arts scene.
Art festivals and community as well as eastern Washington regional events take place in the region throughout the year.
