Skip the canned cranberry this Thanksgiving and try a fresh alternative that is almost just as easy!

Makes: 6 servings (2oz per serving)

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz – bag cranberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice & zest
  • 1 fresh lime – juice & zest
  • 1/2 cup good maple syrup
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded & minced (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions:

Be sure to wash your cranberries, oranges, lime and jalapeno prior to cooking. Pat dry with paper towels.

Cut out the seeds in the jalapeno and mince. Set aside in a metal pot (this is what everything will go into to cook on the stove).

Zest your orange(s) and lime into your pot. Once you have gotten the most out of the skins (don’t want to waste any flavor!), cut them in half and squeeze out any juice into your pot.

Add the rest of the ingredients into the pot, placing your pot on the stove over medium heat.

Stir until the mixture starts to thicken and the cranberries start to pop.

Take off from heat and place the relish in a dish to put in the fridge to chill before serving.
