Biomedical Seminar Series
August 7, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Tuesday, August 7, Noon – 1 p.m., PBS 114 or Zoom
“Human pluripotent stem cell applications for cardiovascular developmental biology and translational medicine” will be presented by Nathan Palpant, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow in the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at The University of Queensland, Australia
Palpant completed a B.Sc. in Biology (magna cum laude) from Whitworth University in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Michigan in 2009. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine in 2015 studying the genetic and signaling basis of lineage decisions in cardiovascular development.
In 2015 he was recruited as Group Leader at the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience where he now heads the Stem Cell and Cardiovascular Development Laboratory. His laboratory focuses on mechanisms underlying mesoderm cell lineage decisions using human pluripotent stem cells, genomics, genome engineering, and bioengineering.
