Biomedical Seminar Series

May 2, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

“Revealing hidden secrets in viral (EBV) gene expression through single cell RNA-seq” by Erik Flemington, Ph.D.  Erik Flemington, Ph.D. is a Professor of Pathology at the Tulane University School of Medicine.

Dr. Flemington’s lab has had a longstanding interest in determining the mechanisms of virus-cell interactions with an emphasis on how EBV alters its host cell environment to promote its infection cycle and oncogenesis. Though their roots are based in wet lab work, we have also become invested in next generation sequencing-based informatics to address tumor genetics, viral genomics, cellular and viral transcriptomics, microRNA targeting, etc (see citations below and citations in “contribution to science sections 4 and 5). For these investigations and as director of the Tulane Cancer Center Next Generation Sequence Analysis Core, Flemington’s lab has developed new algorithms, pipelines and approaches, some of which have been published and many that are simply used in-house.

Biomedical Seminars are open to all members of the WSU Spokane campus and AMS has been requested for the Pullman campus. If you are interested in meeting with him during his visit on May 2nd, please sign up here.
