Virtual Biometrics – Development of useful tools for predictive analysis of knee mechanics
Jason Halloran, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU), where he also co-directs the Center for Human Machine Systems, a collaborative group of health related researchers at CSU. Halloran will discuss his research in the simulation of healthy, diseased and surgically corrected human joints, with a particular emphasis on knee biomechanics. See more information here.

ESFCOM Clinical Research Series – Connecting with Our Clinicians
Jack Singer, M.D., will speak on "Hematology/Oncology: The role of the innate immune system in inflammatory, metabolic, and neoplastic diseases; Potentials for clinical intervention," and Doug Hiller, M.D., will speak on "Orthopedics: The Labman Project: Unconventional research for an unconventional sport." Dr. Tarja Stenberg (Porkka-Heiskanen) will present “Microglia reactions to sleep deprivation in different brain areas.” Dr. Stenberg (Porkka-Heiskanen) gained her MD and PhD degrees at the University of Helsinki. She moved to Northwestern University, Evanston, IL for a postdoctoral fellowship 1990 – 1992 and to Harvard Medical School as associate professor 1995-1997. She is presently a senior researcher at the University Of Helsinki, Finland, leading a sleep research team, Sleep Team Helsinki, as part of the larger research program “Sleepwell” established by the Medical Faculty of University of Helsinki.
