Jack Downs joined the WSU Spokane Division of Student Affairs in 2014; prior to joining WSU Spokane, Jack was an Assistant Professor of English and Writing Center Director at Northwest University (Kirkland, WA) and Visiting Assistant Professor of English and Interim Writing Center Director at Whitworth University. At both Northwest and Whitworth, Jack coordinated writing across the curriculum / writing in the discipline initiatives. Jack is an active scholar, and his work on the history of English as an academic discipline has appeared in journals from Cambridge University Press and the University of South Carolina Press; his monograph was published by Vernon Press in 2022. Jack has also presented his work on supporting international and health sciences students at the annual Conference on College Composition and Communication in 2007, 2016, and 2021. Outside of WSU, Jack teaches English and Humanities courses as an adjunct instructor for Southern New Hampshire University in the College of Online and Continuing Education (COCE).
