Student Health Services
Student Health Insurance
While health insurance is not required for most students, WSU strongly recommends that all students carry it to access primary care services. Insurance helps you pay for your medical and mental health bills by covering some of the cost of clinic visits and procedures, regardless of your chosen provider. Note that your Student Health Fee is not a substitute for insurance.
Primary Care Services
WSU Health Student Clinic
WSU students in Spokane have access to the WSU Health Student Clinic, located on the west side of the Health Sciences Building (HSB 120) on the Spokane campus. If you need primary healthcare services, call the clinic at (509) 471-7828 from 8 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday, for an appointment.
The WSU Health Student Clinic offers preventive, in-clinic diagnostic (or point-of-care testing), and therapeutic services. Insurance will be billed for services, and you are responsible for the cost of non-covered services, such as lab tests, imaging, and medications.
Other Providers
Depending on your insurance, you may be able to access care at one of several local community clinics.

Overdose Prevention Resources
WSU is fully committed to preventing the misuse of opioids in our community and helping eliminate the evolving epidemic of drug-related harms. Cougar Health Services offers opioid and fentanyl overdose prevention education and resources, which are available to all WSU students, regardless of campus location.
In Washington State, if you get medical help for an overdose or alcohol poisoning, Good Samaritan laws are in place so you and the victim cannot be charged for drug use, possession, or underage drinking. Additionally, the WSU Good Samaritan Guideline ensures that students receive prompt and appropriate attention during alcohol and/or drug intoxication.
