Resources for Individual Students and RSOs (Clubs)

Students or student organizations may partner with any WSU Spokane affiliate partner. Student participants and the agency will determine the goals of the community opportunity, number of hours, and duration of the project. Contact us to receive more information about resources available to you.

Service-Learning at WSU Spokane

Service-Learning is a teaching and learning strategy — and a form of experiential learning — that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. To learn more or complete service-learning requirements, visit the service-learning portal.

Community Engagement Fellows Program

The Community Engagement Fellows Program is an initiative which allows students an opportunity to expand their existing knowledge, skills, and leadership experiences.  Students will apply their skills in the development of projects that directly address campus and community impact areas. Students will develop a collaborative relationship with a community partner and an understanding and appreciation for the goals of the populations served by the community partner. The program is funded by BECU.

Cougs in the Community

The Cougs in the Community program provides direct service opportunities during National Days of Service and highlights student-led community engagement projects across the greater Spokane area.

Community Partners

How we support community partners:

  • Promote volunteering opportunities within our online service management system, GivePulse.
  • Help connect partners with faculty and courses for academic-service learning opportunities and serve as a liaison between the partner and the students.
  • Invite you to participate in service fairs, campus events/presentations, partnership meetings, and our annual PICCE Community Engagement award events.
