ASWSUHS Committees

Health Fair Committee

Four to six students on this committee will work with the ASWSUHS president and to plan the annual Community Health Fair. This interprofessional event helps connect the Spokane community through free health screenings, education and activities for the whole family. Expected time commitment is 20+ hours, with multiple meetings with the committee during the late fall and spring semester. You will also need to be in attendance at the Community Health Fair.

Student Life/Campus Improvement Committee

Four to six students on this committee will work with the ASWSUHS President to research and implement measures on campus that improve the student experience. Expected time commitment is 1-2 meetings per month.

Legislative Affairs and Outreach Committee

Four to six students on this committee will work with the ASWSUHS Director of Legislative Affairs and Outreach to organize student engagement opportunities and civic engagement events for the students of WSU Spokane. The committee will be offered the option of attending meetings with local legislators to present the ASWSUHS legislative agenda items, and will help plan ASWSUHS Coug Day at the Capital. Expected time commitment is 2-3 meetings per month, plus optional attendance at planned events and meetings with local legislators.

Travel Grant Committee

Three to four students on this committee will work with the ASWSUHS Director of Finance and ASWSUHS Senators to determine eligible students and award amounts for the ASWSUHS Travel Grant program.

University Committees

Services & Activities Fees Committee

Services and Activities fees are one component of the total tuition and fees that students pay. S&A fees can only be used to support non-academic activities, events, facilities/equipment, and programming.

Composition and Tenure

The Chancellor shall appoint the Spokane Campus S&A Fees Committee as follows:

  • Three undergraduate students with one-year terms (recommended by ASWSUHS). Students should be representative of the variety of academic programs on campus.
  • One Yakima based student with a one-year term (recommended by ASWSUHS).
  • Three graduate/professional students with one-year terms (recommended by ASWSUHS).
  • One faculty member with a two-year term (solicited from faculty ranks).
  • Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations, or designee; and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, or designee.

The Chair is elected by the Committee from the student members. Each member shall have one vote.
