Clery Report

The Clery Act is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, required by the Clery Act, provides information on crime statistics, emergency response and warning procedures, security policies, fire safety policies, educational programs, and procedures available to address crimes, including dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Clery Act Crimes

Crimes reportable under the Cleary Act include, but are not limited to:

  • Criminal homicide: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, manslaughter by negligence
  • Sexual assault: rape, fondling, incest, statutory rape
  • Robbery, burglary, and motor vehicle theft
  • Aggravated assault
  • Domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking
  • Arrests for violations of weapons, drug, or liquor laws
  • Hate crimes
  • Destruction, damage, or vandalism of property

System Clery Act Compliance

The WSU System Clery Committee provides leadership and accountability by coordinating system­wide efforts to ensure compliance with the Clery Act, its implementing regulations, and relevant Violence Against Women Act amendments. The Clery Act obligations impact and involve multiple departments, campuses, and extension facilities.
