AED & First Aid

In the event of a medical emergency, you may need to access an automated external defibrillator (AED) or a first aid kit. It is important to familiarize yourself with the nearest location of these items. AEDs can be found in all facilities. Additionally, Campus Security keeps an AED in the security vehicle.

Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable devices designed to analyze a victim’s heart rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock to restore normal heart rhythm.

Under SPPM 2.46, a person who uses a defibrillator at the scene of an emergency and all other persons and organizations providing emergency services under this policy are immune from civil liability for any personal injury that results from any act or omission in the use of the defibrillator. More information can be found in the linked policy.
