Regalia

Cap, Gown, and More

Traditional caps and gowns are recommended at all WSU in-person Commencement ceremonies.

Those being commissioned as officers in the ROTC program may choose to wear either their military uniform or a cap and gown. Check your regalia as soon as you receive it to make sure everything is correct; please do not wait until the day of your ceremony

Tips for Wearing Regalia

  • Wear tassels on the right side.
  • Wear your stoles, sashes and cords underneath the crimson and gray University yoke. Pull the yoke up snug to your throat with no sagging or gaping (To do this, reach around to the back and pull the end of the yoke down).

Honor Cords

Undergraduates earning a 3.5 or higher grade-point average are considered honor students and can receive a custom WSU honor cord of crimson and silver. Contact your academic department or college dean’s office for information.

(Neither The Bookie nor The Commencement Office provides honor cords. They are provided by your college unit/department)
