Developments in Spokane’s University District moving along

We are proud to call Spokane’s University District our neighborhood. It’s an area that is ripe for growth and innovation. It features six universities and colleges, private businesses, startups and recreation. And it’s not done growing just yet. Here are some latest developments that we are excited about:

Ignite Northwest wins grant, welcomes first cohort

Ignite Northwest, a business accelerator located on our campus and an important partner of ours, recently won a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Ignite will also welcome its first class of ten companies to begin courses this fall that include mentoring, and other aspects of building a business.

WSU medical school will help Eastern Washington’s economy

A WSU medical school in Spokane will allow for more of our state’s students to access medical education. It will also grow the amount of physicians practicing in our region. But you’ve read that already. Another benefit that comes from a second public medical school is its impact on the area economy.

University District Gateway Bridge receives funding

What was once initially envisioned and designed by WSU students more than a decade ago is close to reality today as Washington Governor Jay Inslee has approved a transportation package that includes funding for the University District Gateway Bridge.
