Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane

Commencement lets you share the excitement and importance of your academic accomplishments with peers, family, and friends.

There are several celebratory commencement events this spring. Register separately for each event.

WSU Health Sciences Spokane Commencement Ceremonies

College of Nursing, Friday, May 7, 2021, 1 – 4 p.m.
All College of Nursing graduates will be recognized in a drive-thru style celebration. This outdoor event will follow COVID-19 CDC and Washington State Phase 3 guidelines (subject to change) for safety and security. All graduates will have the option to exit their vehicle and individually walk across a large stage, receive their diploma, and pose for a professional graduation photo. All guests in the graduates’ host vehicle(s) will be able to watch the attending graduate from a safe proximity, in order to share in this special moment. Once registered, all graduates will receive more details on arrival times, event logistics and other details in order to prepare for this special event. Put on your cap and gown and decorate your vehicle in true WSU fashion! Note: Nursing graduates from all WSU nursing campuses may participate and register for the Spokane commencement celebration.

Order Regalia

All regalia orders will be done online.

Important note for Nursing graduates when ordering regalia: Click on “Cap and Gown, Spokane Campus,” then on “Main Ceremony” (for Nursing graduates), then select degree.

Regalia should be ordered by Friday, April 12.

College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Friday, May 7, 2021, 9 – 10 a.m.
Location: WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus, Orange Lot 1 (more details on drive-thru directions will be communicated at a later date to those who RSVP).

The drive-thru ceremony allows friends and family to cheer on graduates as they walk across the stage. Graduates and guests will drive up to the stage one party at a time. Graduates will exit the vehicle, cross the stage, receive acknowledgement of the successful completion of their degree, and exit the stage while their guests watch from a cordoned off area.

Afterwards, graduates and their guests will exit the parking lot before the next student can enter. Each graduate will also be able to take a portrait photo in regalia.

Graduates are allowed to bring up to two vehicles of guests. However, it is preferred that students bring only one vehicle due to concerns around traffic congestion. Passengers in vehicles will be allowed to exit the vehicle to stand in a cordoned off area so that they can view their graduate crossing the stage, but guests must remain in the cordoned off space.

You are highly encouraged to decorate your vehicles to show support for your fellow graduates and show your Cougar spirit!
